South-South Knowledge Exchange Delegations Visit Kota Tua

Delegations from South-South Knowledge Exchange Program visited several locations in Jakarta in order to see city's challenges and reformations. Today, they visited Kota Tua (Old Town) area, including Kali Besar, Fatahillah Park, Jakarta Historical Museum, jamu (traditional herb beverage) cafe, and Kampung Akuarium.
Government has done a good job in improving the city
For information, this South-South Knowledge Exchange Program is managed through cooperation between Jakarta Government and The World Bank. This is the third event which is held in Jakarta on December 15-20, 2019. It is participated by delegations from various cities such as Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Nairobi, Kinshasha, Dakar, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Ho Chi Minh City, Chongqing, Medellin, and several cities in Indonesia such as Semarang, Solo, Bandung, Bogor, Balikpapan, Surabaya, Banjarmasin, Denpasar, Palembang, and Yogyakarta. In this program, delegations are invited to see actual conditions and challenges in Jakarta.
Victor Seff, delegation from Dar es Salaam City, Tanzania, conveyed that cleanliness should be concerned in tourism area.

Besides visiting Kali Besar and Jakarta History Museum, the delegations also invited to try Indonesian traditional herb beverage called Jamu.
Not far from the Jakarta History Museum, there is a small cafe that only sells variety of Jamu. In this chance, they tried the specialty Jamu served by Jamu barista.
Victor mentioned, it was his first time to drink jamu. But since its main ingredient is turmeric, he said that he likes the taste.
"Turmeric is familiar to me. But I find this drink interesting and actually I quite like it," he expressed.
Next, delegations continue to visit Kampung Akuarium, North Jakarta, and see the challenges in there. They gained information about Kampung Akuarium and resident's struggles to get proper houses after the eviction from Mrs. Yani as the Coordinator of Kampung Akuarium Residents.
"Hopefully, public housing construction for Kampung Akuarium can run well in 2020," she asserted.
