City - BBWSCC Collaborates to Resolve Flood Issue in Jakarta

Its collaboration is very important, as flooding needs to be solved comprehensively according to the authority of the central and local governments

The Jakarta Provincial Government has imposed several efforts for better flood prevention amid warnings of extreme weather during the current rainy season. Among the efforts is to collaborating with the Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC) through Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency.

"Its collaboration is very important, as flooding needs to be resolved comprehensively according to the authority of the central and local governments," expressed Jakarta SDA Agency Head, Juani Yusuf, Monday (3/2).

City Secretary Ensures Flood Prevention Works Optimally

He explains, land acquisition for the normalization and sodetan (crossing channel) of Ciliwung River, which will flow water to the East Flood Canal (KBT) is targeted to be completed in April.

"According to the President Joko Widodo's direction, land acquisition for sodetan lies in BBWSCC and normalization lies in us. This project must be complete this year," he explained.

Especially for Ciliwung normalization, there are still 118 plots of land that need to be acquired.

"They are located in Tanjung Barat and Pejaten Timur urban villages (South Jakarta) and in Batu Ampar and Cililitan urban villages (East Jakarta)," he stated.
