Pasar Jaya Provides One Million Masks in Market Operation

Perumda Pasar Jaya holds market operation by selling surgical mask at Pramuka Market, Jalan Pramuka Raya, Matraman, on Thursday (3/5) to follow up Jakarta Governor's instruction for Pasar Jaya to take a part in distributing and selling mask at reasonable prices.

Perumda Pasar Jaya President Director, Arief Nasrudin conveyed, his side has provided one million of surgical mask through a collaboration with Pramuka Market Pharmacy Traders Association.

"Not only in Pramuka Market, but those mask will be distributed in all retail stores in market, mayor's offices, sub-district offices, urban village offices, and others. Governor instructs us directly to be active in monitoring mask selling in the field," he asserted, Thursday (3/5).

From his monitoring and coordination on the field, his side ensured mask stock is still available. He informed that Pasar Jaya doesn't act as a speculator but to cut unreasonable prices in the market.

His side cooperates with the traders in Pramuka Market to sell mask with price Rp 2,500/pc. In order to prevent people who look for profit through stockpilling, his side limited maximum 1 box per person and the buyers should bring their ID card (KTP) thus his side can control their transactions.

Meanwhile, in Pasar Jaya's retail store, his side limited 2 pcs mask per person with price Rp 1,950/pc. His side expected it can be a solution to avoid unreasonable price on mask selling.

His side reminds people for not panicking with the availability stock of mask. Because his side will add the stock based on people's needs.

In the other side, Pramuka Market Pharmacy Traders Association Chairperson, Edi Haryanto stated, as many as 240 traders in Pramuka Market have committed to cooperate with Perumda Pasar Jaya in stabilizing mask price.

"We will follow Jakarta Government's instruction and reminds the traders to cooperate in stabilizing mask price," he said.

According to him, his side will give sanction for traders who sell mask with higher prices since it violates the traders' commitment.

"Of course we will impose sanction. All of us want to help those in need," he asserted.
