Eight Garbage Bins Provided in Central Jakarta to Collect Medical Waste

We put a bin of medical waste in one of waste disposal sites (LPS) in eight sub-districts

Eight garbage bins are provided in each sub-district in Central Jakarta to collect medical waste that has been contained hazardous and toxic substances (B3), such as masks, medical gloves and other personal protective equipments (PPE).

"We put a bin in one of waste disposal sites (LPS) in eight sub-districts," expressed Central Jakarta Environment Sub-agency Head, Marsigit, Thursday (4/16).

According to the procedures, he explained, if medical waste in the sub-district LPS is full, it will be disposed to the city LPS and the Environment Agency depot before being processed by a third party.

While, Central Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head Erizon Safari added third-party companies that process medical waste are the result of recommendations from his ranks. Until now, there have been three companies working together to process medical waste in this region.

"We also want to invite citizens to participate in sorting medical waste with household waste independently," he stated.
