Strategic Food Commodities Ensured to Be Safe Until Eid

Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Agency ensures availability of strategic food commodities is still safe until Eid.

The availability of these stocks is very important to maintain price stability

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Darjamuni stated, strategic food commodities include rice, meat, chicken, egg, cooking oil, sugar, garlic, shallot, and chili.

"Regional-owned enterprises (BUMD)s in food sector together with Logistic Agency and food companies plan to fulfill the supplies based on the business plan," he said, Wednesday (5/6).

With the current rice stock as many as 423,835 tons, his side predicted it is still sufficient until the next three months. While for sugar stock reaches 7,628 tons; meat 9,487 tons; and cooking oil 55,412 tons.

"The availability of these stocks is very important to maintain price stability. Thus citizens can buy variety of commodities at affordable prices," he mentioned.

From monitoring on the field, his side ensures all commodities are in stock in various traditional markets and supermarkets. Market activities also run normally without significant changes in all commodity prices.

"In Kramat Jati Central Market, food supplies for chili and shallot are stable. Thus residents don't need to panic because all commodities are available," he added.

He explained, BUMDs in food sector have set farming contract with various regions to ensure food stock in Jakarta. Besides, BUMDs and Bulog have prepared Eid packages to be sold online to make it easier for residents to get food without leaving the house.

"Mitra Tani Market or Toko Tani Indonesia Center (TTIC) Klender and Kalideres under KPKP Agency have also been registered to serve residents online," he closed.
