Street Vendors’ Location in Tegal Alur will Be Made Permanent

A temporary location to accommodate street vendors (PKL) on Jalan Puskesmas, RW 07, Tegal Alur Urban Village, Kalideres Sub-District, West Jakarta, will be a permanent location. Currently, the place which located in a green open space (RTH) area is occupied by 155 street vendors.

The authority lies in Jakarta Governor. Thus, we and the mayor plan to send the proposal straight to the province

Head of West Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Sub-Department, Slamet Widodo, disclosed that the location only got permit as temporary business place. But since the residents need it as permanent location, his sub-department will submit a proposal to Jakarta Governor.

“The authority lies in Jakarta Governor. Thus, we and the mayor plan to send the proposal straight to the province,” he stated, Monday (10/6).

According to Widodo, if the proposal approved, his party will conduct physical repair to the location, including elevating its floor as flood anticipation. However, the plan still needs to wait for Jakarta KUMKMP Department’s policy to use the Additional Fund (ABT).

“We still have a chance until November. But if until then there was still no result, it would be difficult,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wulan (35), one of the street vendors in the temporary location, welcomes the plan positively because she would have a permanent business place.

“We have been selling here for tens of years, but this place is only temporary. If it was permanent, we would not need to worry anymore about being relocated,” she expressed.
