Maritime Agency: Prices of Basic Necessities Relatively Stable

Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Agency Head Darjamuni said that the prices of basic necessities during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr are relatively stable.

Based on simultaneous monitoring in traditional markets since May 14-20, he stated, commodities that have increased prices are shallots and granulated sugar.

"To anticipate the scarcity of onions, the Perumda Pasar Jaya is going to soon do farming contracts with farmer groups (Poktan) and combined farmer groups (Gapoktan) and to optimize CAS engine," he expressed, Thursday (5/28).

Approaching Eid, Food Commodity in Jakarta is Relatively Safe and Sufficient

As for the supply of sugar stock, the Perum Bulog and the PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya have enough stock. In accordance with the business plan, PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya continues to look for the supply of sugar from various parties.

"Alhamdulillah, sugar stock in Banten Bulog and PT Station Tjipinang Jaya is enough for two months ahead. Bulog also does sugar market operation," he explained.

Then for the rice stock at Bulog, he continued, PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya and Cipinang Rice Central Market (PIBC) can meet the needs of rice for the next three to four months.

"Rice stocks in traditional markets and supermarket are also quite abundant," he stressed.

He added, post-Eid, all will return to normal as it is in accordance with the business plan thus Bulog, BUMD Food and distributors/importers will make efforts to fulfill the stock in Jakarta.

"Routine coordination between agencies and institutions is done weekly to monitor strategic food availability and prices. So don't worry, our stock is relatively safe," he stated.
