Sunter Selatan Reservoir Becomes Part of New Face of Jakarta

This reservoir has 10.6 hectares width offers peace while providing a new space for interaction for citizens

The Sunter Selatan Reservoir on Jalan Sunter Jaya I, Sunter Jaya Urban Village, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta has now been revitalized and become part of the new face of the capital.

Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency Head Juaini Yusuf said the revitalization that carried out on August 23 by spending Rp 45.8 billion uses naturalization concept. Besides functioning as a catchment area or flood control, it aims to bring the community closer to the reservoir as a public space.

Sunter Selatan Reservoir Cleanliness Gets Improved

"This reservoir has 10.6 hectares width offers peace while providing a new space for interaction for citizens. Its location is also strategic and accessible using public transportation, Transjakarta bus," he expressed, Friday (6/26).

He details, it has been completed with various facilities such as, water sports center, amphitheater, jogging track, fishing spot and interactive park, including guiding block for disabled people.

"Prior to revitalization, it looked slums and neglected due to illegal fishing and buildings. And now it looks nice with full amenities," he explained.

To anticipate slums, a number of officers have been alerted to the location "They will monitor and direct visitors to comply with health protocols considering Jakarta is still in the transitional PSBB," he stated.
