MRT Jakarta to Increase Rush Hours Duration When Passengers Jumped

PT MRT Jakarta is about to increase the duration of rush hours from two hours become three hours in order to handle the buildup of passengers during the transitional large-scale social restriction (PSBB).

"This policy applies in the morning and evening," expressed PT MRT President Director, William Sabandar, Thursday (7/2).

According to him, it was decided to maintain physical distancing thus the COVID-19 preventive health protocol remains runs properly. As is known, at this time rush hour was applicable at 7 AM to 9 AM and 5 PM to 7 PM.

His party also had simulated conditions at the station and on the train assuming 70,000 passengers per day thus passenger activities control mechanisms when conditions are solid could be directly handled.

"We have done it many times anyway," he added.

According to the data, the number of MRT passengers had risen again after Jakarta entered the transitional PSBB. On the last day of the PSBB or on 4 June, its number was still under 5,000.

And now the number risen by more than 5,000 every day or hit 20,793 on June 30 and rose again to 21,478 on July 1.
