Flood Mitigation Still in Progress, Vice Governor Says

Jakarta Vice Governor Ahmad Riza Patria, monitored the cleanup action or popularly called Gerebek Lumpur and disinfectant spraying in Irian Village, RW 06, Serdang Urban Village, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (11/15).

Starting from Bina Marga, Water Resources (SDA), Parks and Urban Forest agencies, sub-district heads, urban village heads up to RW heads," he expressed, as qouted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He disclosed Gerebek Lumpur program is the city's major program to increase the volume of water storage in the river, reservoir and so forth in Jakarta.

"We also optimize pumps to suck up rainwater during the dry and rainy season. We also make sodetan and poulder system, as well as biopore holes in neighborhood areas. Principally we'll do our best, including flood mitigation," he added.

He continued, based on the BPBD prediction results, Jakarta would face La Lina phenomenon, which has an impact on rainfall with heavier intensity than in previous years.

"So lets prepare ourselves in maintaining cleanliness, not throwing trash carelessly and cleaning up gutters around our home. We also need support from all elements. We also do socialization about flood management," he stated.
