Anticipating Extreme Weather, Social Agency Prepares Thousands Personnel and Equipment

Jakarta Social Agency prepared thousands personnel and various equipment to anticipate disasters such as floods, landslides, and strong winds which predicted to occur at the end of this year until early next year.
We prepare around 30 tents, 34 operational vehicles, public kitchen in 6 locations
Social Protection and Security Division Head, Ika Yuli Rahayu stated, her side has deployed 1,600 Tagana personnel and 90 Disaster Preparedness Social Personnel (PSKB)s.
Moreover, her side also prepared facilities and alerted 84 Disaster Preparedness Villages (KSB) in disaster-prone areas in all Jakarta regions.
"We prepare around 30 tents, 34 operational vehicles, public kitchen in 6 locations. For logistic, we encourage each regions to support all residents needs both staple foods and ready-to-eat meals. We also coordinate with KSB in 84 urban villages to prepare additional public kitchen which built independently by residents who are not affected by disaster," she said as quoted from Jakarta Government PPID Press Release, Tuesday (11/16).
She explained, this preparation was carried out to follow Jakarta Governor's Instruction No. 58/2020 concerning Preparedness and Anticipation of Floods and Strong Winds in Rainy Season during COVID-19 Pandemic that was handed down through Jakarta Social Agency Head's Instruction No. 38/2020.
"There are several points emphasized by Agency Head, such as anticipating the potential for ground movement when rainfall is above normal, especially areas in South Jakarta and East Jakarta that located near river valleys, scarps, cliff roads, and slopes. Because previously, landslide had occurred in those areas," she explained.
She reminded all personnel to comply with health protocols when providing services to the residents.
"In the midst of COVID-19 pandemic, we need to ensure health protocols to be implemented in all activities. Because we need to take care of our heath and disciplined in wearing mask and keeping distance with others," she closed.
