KPKP Checks Food Safety at Muara Angke Fish Wholesale Market

Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Agency opened free formaline test service for consumers at Muara Angke Fish Wholesale Market, on Thursday (12/31).

In order to ensure fresh food safety, we provide free formalin test for customers

Jakarta KPKP Agency Acting Head, Suharini Eliawati mentioned, this service was provided because people's demand for fresh fish on this New Year's Eve was quite high.

"In order to ensure fresh food safety, we provide free formalin test for customers who want to check whether the fish they buy contains of formalin or not," she conveyed.

KPKP Carries Out Food Inspection at Muara Angke Wholesale Fish Market

For this service, her side deployed one unit of mobile laboratory car owned by Center for Production Inspection and Certification of  Fishery Products (PPISHP) Unit. Moreover, Fishery Port Unit also provided accurate scales if the weight of fish they bought didn't match the scale.

"If the fish they bought weighed less than the accurate scale, buyer can report it to the officer. Later, officer will reprimand the related trader and tell them to adjust the actual fish weight," she stated.
