Rawa Malang Embung Construction Has Touched 40 Percent

The Semper Timur Urban Village, Cilincing, North Jakarta continues to speed up the Rawa Malang Embung (artificial lake) construction on Jalan Cakung Cilincing Drainase Kampung Sawah, RT 10/11.

Cilincing Sub-district Water Resources (SDA) Executing Unit Head, Tjahyono Budi Setiawan said it has been constructed since November 4, 2020 and was targeted to be complete by the end of the upcoming May.

"Currently, the progress is still 40 percent due to constraints on the construction of the Cibitung - Cilincing Toll Road piles. Nearly a quarter of the construction area was part of the work of the Cibitung - Cilincing Toll Road by PT Waskita Beton Precast Tbk (WSBP). Yet we continue to coordinate with the Waskita regarding the solution," he expressed, Thursday (3/25).

He went on to say that the work was executed on the 4.5-hectare width land belongs to the SDA agency. The embung would have six meters depth wit DAM around 1.5 meters height.

"To conduct it, we use heavy equipment such as one unit of Amphibious XM 22 and one unit of excavator. Eight personnel have also been alerted at the location," he continued.

He explained it was aimed at tackling inundation in the surrounding area, especially during the rainy season.

"After it is done, we hope the inundation problem can be resolved," he hoped.

Not only that, it also aimed to accommodate water in order to increase groundwater sources in the surrounding area. It was also designed to be one of the ecotourism spots in North Jakarta area.

"Later, locals can do exercise and other activities. Not far from the location, there is also Malang Rawa Urban Forest. So, the facilities will be more complete," he stated.
