Jaya RW 07 Waste Bank in Karet Officially Operates

I appreciate their initiative considering this waste bank is a form of our concern for environmental cleanliness

The Jaya RW 07 waste bank, which is located in Bedeng Park, Jalan Foba, RT 01/07 Karet Urban Village, Setiabudi, South Jakarta has been operated since Sunday (4/11) yesterday.

Karet Urban Village Head Kiki M Akbar stated it was a proof of people’s concern in helping the government reduces the volume of waste in their respective neighborhoods, which would be disposed of at the Bantargebang Landfill.

"I appreciate their initiative considering this waste bank is a form of our concern for environmental cleanliness," he expressed, Monday (4/12).

According to him, there were already two banks operating in his area. Previously, RW 02 residents also did the same action with 40 customers.

"We'll continue to increase its existence in the future," he stressed.

RW 07 Chairman Hasan explained the bank was reactivated after being vacuum for 10 years.

In the first weighing on Sunday (4/11), a total of 479 kg of waste were collected from 12 customers. The waste itself consisted of cardboard, paper, mineral water bottles, and so forth.

"We take the waste to the main waste bank in Menteng Atas. Apart from helping the government reduce the volume of waste, it may also increase the income of residents in RW 07," he said.
