Central Jakarta PPKD Holds Training for Millennial Generation

The Central Jakarta Regional Work Training Center (PPKD) in collaboration with the Indonesian Gugah Nurani Foundation (GNI) holds a training program for young generation aged 18-24 years old.

Participants who join the training may open up new jobs thus open opportunities for others

There are 10 vocational training courses open, ranging from English, Fashion, Housekeeping, Cooling/AC Engineering, Cosmetology, Catering, Computer Operators, Graphic Design, Computer Engineering, and Motorcycle Engineering. The method of implementing activities was conducted online and offline.

Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy (Nakertrans) Agency Head, Andri Yansyah said, based on BPS data from the 2020 National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas), the number of open unemployed in Jakarta as of August reached 573,000 people.

"It increases by 10.95 percent than in 2019 by 339 people. It was triggered by the COVID-19 outbreak that hit Indonesia since March 2020," he expressed, Thursday (4/29).

He detailed, the most open unemployment seen in the age group of 20 to 24 years old, namely 149,000 people (90,000 men and 59,000 women).

"The age of 20 to 24 years old is a very productive age. If it is in work and entrepreneurship, the potential of that age can really be maximized in making a business," he explained.

He explained, according to PPKD's main duties and functions, namely organizing work skills and skills training, it is hoped that the collaborative training could improve and develop competencies, especially for millennial generation. Thus, it was able to be absorbed in the world of work and at a macro level contribute to reducing the unemployment rate.

"Participants who join the training may open up new jobs thus open opportunities for others," he continued.

PPKD Head, Siti Jamharoh added four out of 10 training programs namely English, Dressmaking, Housekeeping (Housekeeping), and Cooling / AC Engineering were scheduled simultaneously from April 27 to May 8 or 10 working days. Six other trainings would open after Eid al-Fitr.

"The number of participants in each training program is 10 people," she stated.

She utterred it was held in the PPKD Building in Central Jakarta, Bendungan Hilir and the PPKD Building, Central Jakarta, Jatibaru.

"This program aims to improve and develop the competence of young people of productive age thus they can be absorbed in the world of work. Hopefully it can inspire the emergence of other collaborative activities in the future," she hoped.
