East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar opened new student admission (PPDB) socialization for academic year 2021/2022 on Tuesday (5/25). This socialization was carried out virtually at SMKN 51 Bambu Apus, Cipayung and SMKN 48 Klender, Duren Sawit.

PPDB is made with a very good system

According to him, socialization was given to establish equality for all citizens, in order to obtain decent and quality education in Jakarta. In the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, PPDB was held virtually. Because there were many people who intend to send their children to public schools, student selection must be carried out strictly and professionally.

"PPDB is made with a very good system. Residents can register their children without having to gather at school in order to prevent COVID-19 transmission," he mentioned.

PPDB offered many admission pathways to facilitate parents in sending their children to public school. Including achievement path, especially for children who excel in sports, arts, education and other fields.

Besides, it also offered special path for poor family, zoning path for children who live near school, as well as for children whose parents' jobs were transferred to Jakarta in order to get the same rights.

"I hope PPDB can be implemented well," he added.

East Jakarta Education Sub-agency Region II Head, Putoyo stated, this PPDB socialization involved school committee, urban villages and sub-districts administrators, as well as TP PKK cadres. This way, PPDB information could reach the public.

For residents who were still unsure of PPDB service could ask East Jakarta Education Sub-agency via call center at 08996 100 61 or 08996 100 62. If it's not clear yet, they could visit complaint post at SMP 103 on Jl. RA Fadillah Cijantung.

"This year's PPDB is only available for Jakarta residents, because the quota is still insufficient. So we will not accept students from outside Jakarta. Unless their parents transferred to Jakarta," he informed.

His side prepared two percent quota for transferred students from outside Jakarta whose parents were transferred to work in Jakarta. PPDB was carried out online, thus people could even use their smartphone to register their children to school.

Meanwhile, East Jakarta Education Sub-agency Region I Head, Linda Romauli Siregar conveyed, it was the second PPDB socialization which carried out online. Previously, socialization was held during regional coordination meeting at city level on May 20. However, because it was not optimal, socialization was resumed today thus it could reach wider community.

"Our principle is to make sure wider community to be informed about PPDB. We have coordinated with Dukcapil Sub-agency to check population data of prospective new students," she said.
