Dinkes Encourages School Committees to Help Accelerate Covid-19 Vaccination

The Jakarta Health (Dinkes) Agency encourages the active participation of the School Committee in order to speed up the Covid-19 vaccination for children aged 12 to 17 in Jakarta, with 15 percent of the target remaining.

One way that we will take to educate parents is through the power of the School Committee in coordination with Disdik

Dinkes Head, Widyastuti said, her agency had coordinated with Education Agency (Disdik) through Educational Assistance Agency (BP3) to educate parents about the importance of vaccination.

"One way that we will take to educate parents is through the power of the School Committee in coordination with Disdik. By so, it can trigger students to get vaccinated," she said, Thursday (9/30).

She explained that another effort that would be made was a peer group approach with the intention that students could become agents of change for their peers at school, home, and even their parents.

"Disagreement and parental consent are the reason 15 percent of children in Jakarta aged 12-17 have yet to get vaccine. We continue to educate and socialize, especially there are many vaccine options that can be used," she explained.

According to her, based on Dinkes' data, around 792,000 children from Jakarta had received the first shots. As for the target was about 1,000,121 people.

"The numbers continue to be dynamic, there is always an overlay or data equivalent between KPC-PEN and data from Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) Agency. This is because, not all children have Jakarta ID card, but we still serve them," she stated.
