Progress of Crossing Channel Construction in Tiu Reservoir Reaches 90 Percent

Progress of 15-meter crossing channel construction in Tiu Reservoir, Setu Urban Village, Cipayung, East Jakarta has reached 90 percent. The construction work which started from August 26 is targeted to be completed this weekend.

We just need to install one box culvert which is estimated to finish within this week

East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency's Maintenance Section Head, Puryanto stated, crossing channel is built as an outlet or access for water to flow from Tiu Reservoir to Sunter River on the east side of reservoir. The crossing channel is built using concrete box culvert with size 1.5 x 1.5 meters.

"Progress of crossing channel which is built as an outlet of Tiu Reservoir has now reached 90 percent. We just need to install one box culvert which is estimated to finish within this week," he said, Monday (10/4).

According to him, this crossing will be used to control streamflow in Tiu Reservoir which has an area of 3 hectares. Floodgates will be controlled to prevent flood in the area along Sunter River, especially in high intensity rain

"When it rains heavily, crossing channel will be closed thus not all water flows into Sunter River," he closed.
