"We destroy it to protect consumers in Jakarta from circulation of goods that can endanger people's health and safety," he conveyed when destructing the goods at Jakarta PPKUKM Agency, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Tuesday (11/23).

She explained that products destruction is a form of compliance and responsibility of business owners based on Law No. 8/1999 on Consumer Protection and Regulation of Minister of Trade No. 15/2018 on Amendments to Regulation of Minister of Trade No. 24/M-DAG/PER/4/2016 on Standardization in Trade Sector.
"In order to protect consumers in Jakarta, PPKUKM Agency will continue to improve monitoring on products circulation related to SNI and those concerning security, health, safety, and environment or K3L. By strengthening monitoring, we hope that goods that don't meet the standards will no longer circulate in Jakarta area," she stated.
According to her, increase in number of imported and local products, is feared to trigger the distribution of goods that are not in accordance with the provisions. In order to protect consumers, Jakarta PPKUKM Agency carried out more intense monitoring.
"PPKUKM Agency really appreciates business owners who take the initiative to monitor and are willing to withdraw and destroy goods that don't meet SNI standards. Hopefully their willingness to protect consumers can be an example for other business owners, especially through preventive measures," she added.
On the other hand, Indonesia Trade Ministry's Trade Order Director, Sihard Hadjopan Pohan mentioned, destructing the goods without SNI could make business owners in Jakarta to be more law-abiding and pay attention to provisions before starting trading activities.
"We appreciate Jakarta PPKUKM Agency, especially the supervisors. This shows that PPNS that we train together have shown good performance, although the number of personnel is still limited," he said.
He expected PPKUKM Agency could continue to improve socialization on applicable regulations and policies thus business owners could understand and comply with the regulations before starting their business.
"We want them to run their business in an orderly manner, complying with applicable regulations. We as supervisors, will not be
negligent in carrying out supervision," he conveyed.
