As many as 50 illegal buildings stood atop water channel on Jalan Petojo Binatu Raya, Gambir, Central Jakarta, are demolished by tens of joint personnel, Monday (12/1).

After this, Central Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department will normalize the 300-meter long water channel. If the water channel was not dredged, the area around it becomes prone to flooding.

The joint personnel consist of Satpol PP officers and janitors. They demolish the building one by one using manual tools. The demolition process runs conducive.

“We have socialized about this operation since a month ago. We asked the building owners to demolish the buildings themselves, but they ignored it. This curbing is also conducted to create an order and comfortable city,” stated Head of Gambir Sub-District, Fauzi.
