Health Agency Explains COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements for Children Aged 6-11 Years

Jakarta Government is committed to carry out COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6-11 years in accordance with Decree of Minister of Health. For this reason, Jakarta Health Agency gives an explanation regarding requirements for children who can be vaccinated at health facilities in Jakarta.

Children who can be injected in health facilities in Jakarta are those who have national identity number (NIK)/domicile/attend school in Jakarta

"Regarding the issuance of letter from Ministry of Health, only 115 regencies/cities in Indonesia that are allowed to carry out child vaccination. Children who can be injected in health facilities in Jakarta are those who have national identity number (NIK)/domicile/attend school in Jakarta," said Widyastuti, Head of Jakarta Health Agency, quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, Thursday (12/16).

Here are COVID-19 vaccination requirements for children aged 6-11 years in Jakarta :

Latest Data on COVID-19 Cases and Vaccination in Jakarta as of December 15, 2021

1. For vaccination which implemented in schools within Jakarta province, vaccination is targeting students of the schools, both Jakarta residents and non-Jakarta residents.

2. For vaccination which implemented outside schools within Jakarta, it can provide vaccination service for children aged 6-11 years with several requirements:

a. Children with status of Jakarta residents as evidenced by Family Card or Child Identity Card (KIA) that includes address in Jakarta area.

b. Children who are non-Jakarta residents and not registered as students in educational units in Jakarta, but reside in Jakarta as evidenced by showing domicile certificate from RT based on their residential address in Jakarta and has been registered in citizen data application.

For information, total children aged 6-11 years registered in Basic Education Data (Dapodik) reaches 1.1 million children.

She explained that all of them can be vaccinated in three locations, namely schools, health centers, and hospitals, as well as vaccination centers in the community. While Ministry of Health has set target of 987,422 children aged 6-11 years to be vaccinated in Jakarta.

Since the kick off of child vaccination (12/14) until December 15, number of children aged 6-11 years who have been vaccinated in Jakarta has reached 38,928 children. According to her, before injection, health screening process is carried out first. It uses Bio Farma vaccine or Coronavac that has Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).

This vaccination aims to prevent serious illness and death in infected children, support the implementation of face-to-face learning, minimize transmission in schools/educational units, and accelerate progress in achieving herd immunity.

"We hope parents/guardians for children aged 6-11 years can support their children to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Please come to the vaccination site by bringing family card or other documents that include child's NIK," she conveyed.
