Governor Appreciates Community Collaboration in Naming Public Facilities at Pantai Kita and Pantai Maju

"I would like to thank all parties involved in carrying out this naming process

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan inaugurated the names of roads, bridges, parks, and roundabouts on Pantai Maju (Moving Forward Beach) area, North Jakarta, on Monday (2/21).

Its inauguration was held at Jalasena (Healthy Walk and Relaxing Bike Route), which is the third room with a bike track that surrounds Pantai Maju.

On that occasion, he revealed that it was done as a sign that the spirit of collaboration has been pursued in Jakarta in every government work for the community. As a result, the determination of the naming of public roads by involving the community had sparked a special enthusiasm from the residents.

"I would like to thank all parties involved in carrying out this naming process. Hope all people can enjoy the area around the beach, public spaces that can be used for pedestrians, cycling, and other activities," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He also asserted that the Jakarta administration remains committed to providing a comfortable third public space for its residents to move and interact on Pantai Kita (Our Beach) and Pantai Maju areas.

"Economic development and growth in this region shouldn't be ignored on environmental, social, and cultural aspects. Existing public spaces in the form of parks, beaches, as well as areas for pedestrians and casual cyclists (Jalasena) on the beach must be ensured that they are truly accessible to the public," he explained.

Winners of the Contest, as well as the naming of Facilities on Pantai Maju and Pantai Kita

Previously, the competition for naming roads, bridges, parks, and roundabouts was attended by 182 participants from all over Indonesia in the "Kita Kasih Nama" event. Thereby, the community was involved in naming important landmarks on Pantai Kita and Pantai Maju. PT Jakarta Tourisindo (JXB) was the organizer of the Kita Kasih Nama competition which took place from August to last October.

The determination of the best participants was carried out through a selection process involving a jury from various professions such as history lecturers, linguists, and art activists. The selection stage resulted in the Best Contest 1 which gave the landmark name derived from the name of the mangrove plant and the element of the boat. It is following the spirit of environmental and maritime conservation of Jakarta for Pantai Kita and Pantai Maju.

The proposed names from the competition participants were then evaluated against several indicators such as philosophy, concepts, themes, conformity with City Design Guidelines, historical integration, etc. Then on October 21, 2021, the winner for Best Participant 1 was the Glibly Team which consists of five creative young people named Rima Syafia, Annisa Nadhirah Ar, Hana Syabila Fazri, Aprilia Hapsari Putri, and Yosephine Astari.

The names chosen were inspired by the lives of coastal communities. The name of the roundabout, namely Heritiera, is in harmony with the shape of a type of mangrove with strong roots. This means that the Heritiera Roundabout is the heart of the area. The name of the bridge is inspired by the boat part, the front one is Linggi Bridge, the middle is Tataban Bridge, and the last bridge like the back of the boat that leads to the sea is Baruyungan Bridge.

The names of the parks, namely Baharia and Asriloka are taken from the Indonesian language which means happy and beautiful. These names are taken from the names of mangrove species, namely Warakas, Kandeka, Bidara, Acacia, and Pejapi.

The naming proposal was then processed regarding Governor's Decree number 28/1999 on Guidelines for the Stipulation of Roads, Parks, and Public Buildings in Jakarta. Then it was stipulated in Governor's Decree number 50/2022 on Determination of the Names of Roads, Bridges, Parks, and Roundabouts on Pantai Kita and Pantai Maju.

Integrated Transportation

In 2018, the Jakarta administration required the existence of public facilities, which could be easily accessed by the entire community. Since then, the area has become free access to the beach that can be enjoyed by residents and outside Jakarta. Then through Governor's Regulation on City Design Guidelines number 30/2021, existing reclaimed beaches are required to have public facilities and social facilities, including third room, public transportation, and prayer room/musala.

Public facilities at Pantai Kita and Pantai Maju will be managed by Jakarta BUMD, PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) (Jakpro), taking into account the principle of equality. The administration also encourages the provision of public transportation facilities around the Pantai Kita and Pantai Maju areas. Currently, PT Jakpro is building several Transjakarta bus stops to meet the needs of public transportation on the beaches.

The Jalasena Timur area can be accessed using the Transjakarta route for the public who want to enjoy and have activities on the beach. In the future, the Jakpro will collaborate with various parties to improve facilities and programs for public activities, as well as involve the participation of locals.
