Expo 2020 Dubai, Global Investors Invited to Support Jakarta as a Global Business and Economic Center

Jakarta is a city full of opportunities
The Jakarta administration has invited all parties to collaborate, including global investors to develop Jakarta into a global business and economic center at the Expo 2020 Dubai event in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This time, they carry the theme "Accelerating the Infrastructure Development through Investment" in the business forum which is held for two days, March 15-16.
Jakarta Business Forum at Expo 2020 Dubai Offers Various Investment ProjectsIn the virtual opening of the forum business, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan disclosed the administration was committed to transforming Jakarta into an economic center and a metropolitan city that contributes directly to national and global growth, without neglecting environmental and social issues.
"Jakarta is a city full of opportunities, supported by infrastructure ranging from eco-friendly businesses to world-class tourist attractions. Therefore, we invite all participants to come and collaborate with us in Jakarta. Let's rise together and become stronger with Jakarta," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Thursday (3/17).
His party would support the upcoming Indonesia's 2022 G20 Presidency and host the U20 in Indonesia. There are three main concerns for Jakarta, namely the global health architecture, digital transformation, and sustainable energy.
"We work closely with city leaders, mayors, and governments to create solutions to mitigate the impacts of global climate change, collaborate in developing business partnerships, and investments by maintaining inclusiveness, diversity, and accountable sustainable development," he explained.
Economics and Finance Assistant Sri Haryati who was present at the event added that the administration involved Jakarta BUMDs at the event, namely PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), PT MRT Jakarta, Perumda Pembangunan Sarana Jaya, and PT Transportasi Jakarta.
She went on to say that today's business forum aimed at introducing potential projects of Jakarta to global investors.
"They (investors) positively welcome it. As a follow-up, there will be meetings between potential UAE investors and BUMD project owners in the future," she furthered.
To support it, the Jakarta Investment Centre Management Unit (UP JIC) would be the gateway for every investor who is interested in investing in Jakarta.
"We're ready to share all the information needed thus the entire process runs efficiently and effectively," she added.
By doing so, the administration continues to improve service innovations to facilitate and bring public services closer, including the Public Service Mall with Integrated and Integrated Licensing services; Jakarta Virtual Consultant for Business (JVC for B); Jakarta Evolution Online Service (JakEvo) for Licensing and Non-licensing services; Licensing Delivery Service (AJIB); and One-day Service for specified services.
Jakpreneur Products Showcase
Jakarta's participation at Expo 2020 Dubai was following the direction of the Governor to equate Jakarta with other developed world cities through strong cultural roots while remaining flexible in facing global challenges.
"The governor's directive is how the culture of Jakarta and Jakarta's MSMEs must be able to appear globally. Because Jakarta wants to become a city that is equivalent to developed cities in the world but still pays attention to the value of cultural roots. That's why we also invite the selected Jakpreneur SMEs to take part in this event," expressed Haryati.
Jakarta Industry Trade Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Agency Head Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo explained that Jakpreneur's preparation and curation process had been going on since last year. With the Trade Ministry's support, the city had curated Jakprenuer products that were eligible to enter the export category and followed the Expo 2020 Dubai target market.
"Many Jakpreneur products are included in the export category. We try to help increase both quantity and quality. We're cooperating with several embassies, Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) abroad to export Jakpreneur products," she explained.
As for the information, participation activities at the event include business forum activities, cultural performances, fashion shows, and rolling exhibitions. Jakarta presents traditional Betawi dances, fashion shows by designer Ai Syarif with Planet Earth collection and designer Novita Yunus with Batik Chic Gringsing collection, as well as exhibiting 77 superior local products from 16 MSMEs in Jakarta, which consist of fashion products, accessories, home décor, and culinary arts.
