With Idul Fitri around the corner, the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) ensures the entire bus fleet that will transport passengers during this year's Eid homecoming is roadworthy.
This is for the safety and comfort of travelers
Those fleets had passed through the roadworthy test from April 5 to 17, 2022 at Kampung Rambutan, Kalideres, and Tanjung Priok bus terminals.
Road Transport Management Unit (UPTAJ) Head Syamsul Mirwan said, from three terminals, 265 out of 412 buses were unroadworthy, 52 were roadworthy with notes, and 95 buses were roadworthy.
Offline Verification for Free Homecoming Has Been OpenedThe 265 buses were unroadworthy, as officers still found damage to the wipers, brakes, rear brake lights, turn signal lights, headlights, and still using retread tires.
While 52 buses were roadworthy with notes because minor damage was still found in the driver's seat without seat belts, passenger seat, toilet, gearshift, and steering wheel.
He went on to say that vehicles that failed the test were sent a letter of inspection results thus the bus company concerned could make repairs before the homecoming period which falls from April 25 to May 10, 2022.
"If major faults are still found, they should not operate or use a replacement bus," he asserted, Wednesday (4/20).
According to him, the roadworthy test was very important to ensure the proper operation of the vehicle when serving passengers. It would be carried out again on D-7 before to D+10 after Eid al-Fitr.
Therefore, buses that pass the test would be fitted with a marking sticker that indicates that it is safe to operate during the inspection.
"This is for the safety and comfort of travelers as well as ensuring the safety of public transport traffic during the Eid period," he closed.
