City will Form UPT to Manage TIM

Jakarta Provincial Government will take over the management of Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) from the artists. Later, the city government will form a Technical Management Unit (UPT) which is under the Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department (Disparbud).

We'll not disburse grant recklessly. I don't want to go to jail

Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat said, this takeover must be taken because the city government can not continue to provide the grant for operational fund. It is because the grant has limited time and value. City administration can not disburse grant more than Rp 5 billion per year.

"We can not continue to give grants because there is a deadline and it is only given once in a while," said Djarot, while visiting the artist, at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Tuesday (1/13).

City to Revoke TIM's Management Permit

In addition, the former Mayor of Blitar also said, the grant should be accounted properly. That is why the plan to form UPT raises up. It will ease the fund to be proposed in city budget.

"We'll not disburse grant recklessly. I don't want to go to jail," he uttered.

The vice governor plans to improve TIM as the preparation of Asian Games 2018 host. It is time for city government and artists to collaborate each other.

"This is our goal, showing what we have to foreign people who will visit Jakarta. Let it goes well for our city and country," he disclosed.
