13 Urban Villages in South Jakarta Classified as Fire Prone

For Tebet Sub-District, we sent a fire pump and Kebayoran Baru received a fire-extinguisher motor

Fire incident is apparently still a serious threat for South Jakarta residents. How could it not be, as many as 13 out of 65 urban villages are classified as fire prone.

Those 13 fire-prone areas are Manggarai Selatan, Manggarai, Bukit Duri, Karet Belakang, Pejaten Timur, Mampang Prapatan, Gandaria Utara, Cipete Utara, Kebayoran Lama Utara, Grogol Utara, Petukangan Utara, Petukangan Selatan, and Pancoran.

Head of Operation Division for South Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Edy Sucipto said in overall, there are 29 fire-prone areas. They are located at Tebet and Kebayoran Baru Sub-Districts. His sub-department had sent fire extinguisher equipments to both sub-districts as quick action. 

"For Tebet Sub-District, we sent a fire pump and Kebayoran Baru received a fire-extinguisher motor," he said after he attended in ceremony of disaster handling preparedness, Wednesday (1/21).

South Jakarta Mayor, Tri Kurniadi disclosed there must be coordination with various sectors in anticipating and handling disasters. As the apparatus, must always be ready to help residents. "The speed of response of the officer must always be improved. Thus the disaster and save lives can become a top priority," he stated.

The ceremony was attended by 300 personnel of South Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department.
