Central Jakarta Intensively Performs Flood Control Efforts

Make sure the drainage system in the microchannel functions optimally

Central Jakarta Mayor, Dhany Sukma urged the related regional apparatus organizations (OPD) to intensify flood control efforts in line with recent increases in rainfall.

"Especially the affected areas around the river, including Karet Tengsin and Bendungan Hilir. The main key is controlling water flow and monitoring," he expressed, Tuesday (10/11).

Here are City's Steps to Handle Flood, Water, and Pollution Problems in the Last 5 Years

He also instructed urban village heads throughout Central Jakarta to deploy PPSU personnel to check water lines in microchannels.

"Make sure the drainage system in the microchannel functions optimally thus it doesn't get clogged which causes puddles when it rains," he explained.

He added the stationary pumps, mobile pumps and floodgates in Central Jakarta were functioning optimally.

"I have also instructed that sheet piles be raised using parapets on rivers that are currently being revitalized, such as those in Pasar Baru and Cideng to anticipate overflowing waters," he stated.
