City to Improve Safety Quality

Jakarta Provincial Government coordinates with City Police to eliminate thuggery in the capital. The coordination is tightened up following the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU)'s survey which claimed Jakarta is one of unsafe cities in the world.

"Program to eradicate thuggery must be made to minimize the crime in the city," said Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat, Wednesday (1/28).

According to him, none of the cities in the world could gain the zero crime. The best way is coordinating with the police to minimize crime.

"Please show me if there is any," he added.

Previously, the EIU has released the Safe City Index of 50 cities on January 27. Based on the index, Jakarta is in the last position with score 53.71. The score is lower compared to Tokyo, which is in first position, by 85.63. This well known magazine's survey considered the citizen safety, infrastructure safety, digital safety, and health safety.

Some criteria were also included in the survey such as the number of crime, the number of unnatural death, and the information technology to monitor crime. As the final result, Tokyo has become the safest city overall after beat Singapore and Osaka in the survey, while Zurich in Switzerland is succeed to get the best health service.
