Distamhut Conducts Pruning and Guarantees Fallen Tree Victims

We take various preventive measures

Acting Governor Heru Visits Five Victims by Fallen Tree at Police Hospital

In anticipation of falling trees in the rainy season, the Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency (Distamhut) cut down old trees in parts that are dangerous or commonly called pruning in five administrative city areas.

Distamhut Head, Suzi Marsitawati revealed the tree management procedure is by Jakarta Governor Regulation No. 24/2022 on Tree Management and Protection.

According to her, the main priority of pruning lies in the location of green lines or trees that are on the side or median of the road.

"When it rains heavily and there are many fallen and dangerous trees, we take various preventive measures, namely pruning trees when they are shady and dense, covering trees when trees are too tall, and felling trees when trees are dead and porous with a tree weathering rate of more than 30% and the tree tilted more than 30 degrees," she expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

She went on to say that her agency routinely checks the health condition of trees in Jakarta, starting with the roots, stem condition, slope, to crown condition.

"Until last October, as many as 6,916 trees had been checked, especially the trees located in the green belt," she continued.

On that day, the agency had pruned trees spread across five areas of the city, with details:

1. Central Jakarta

- Jalan Suprapto

- Jalan Kesehatan

- Jalan M.Yamin

- Jalan Gresik

- Jalan Teuku Umar

2. North Jakarta

- Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan

- Jalan Danau Sunter

- Papanggo

- Around Ancol

- Kelapa Gading Area

3. West Jakarta

- Jalan Kyai Tapa

- Jalan Panjang

- Jalan Daan Mogot

4. South Jakarta

- Jalan Hangtuah

- Jalan Sriwijaya

5. East Jakarta

- Jalan Pangeran Revolusi

- Jalan Pemuda

- Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai

Aside that, the Jakarta Distamhut Decree number 11/2021 on Standard Operating Procedures for Providing Compensation/Insurance for Falling Trees in Jakarta, stipulates the procedures that are entitled to be obtained by fallen tree victims, and the amount of insurance compensation, requirements for compensation claims which are divided for two/four-wheeled vehicles, injured/died victims, and building damage.

Claims for insurance compensation apply to human victims, vehicle damage, and building damage. The amount of insurance compensation is a maximum of Rp 50 million for death victims and a maximum of Rp 25 million for vehicle damage and building damage.

Communities (individuals, legal entities, or non-legal entities) who are affected by events/incidents of fallen trees or due to natural events in the location of the Distamhut work area can submit claims for insurance compensation for fallen trees via email: distama@jakarta.go.id or to the Distamhut office.

As for the information, the Distamhut is alerting fallen tree posts starting from the regional level to the provincial level. For people who see or find a fallen tree, they can contact the Distamhut post, Jalan Aipda KS Tubun, Central Jakarta by telephone at (021) 22056884.
