Velodrome Sport Hall will be renovated totally by Sports and Youth Department, while the Aquatic Centre in the Gelora Bung Karno by Sports and Youth Ministry

Jakarta Provincial Government began to prepare the facility and infrastructure ahead of the 2018 Asian Games. One of them is by renovating a Velodrome Sport Hall (GOR), Rawamangun, East Jakarta.

"Velodrome Sport Hall will be renovated totally by Sports and Youth Department, while the Aquatic Centre in the Gelora Bung Karno by Sports and Youth Ministry. Similar thing would also be done for other venues," said Deputy Head of Jakarta Culture and Tourism, Sylviana Murni, at City Hall, Monday (2/2).

Sylviana mentions there are 28 sports to be contested in the upcoming Asian Games. But not all are included, because the city is not the only province as host. Until now, there has been no any decision which sports that will be contested, considering its decision lies in the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI).

"We're just waiting for the division of branch. But we have coordinated with Banten and West Java. Then the KOI will submit the result to Mr. Governor," she said.

According to former of Central Jakarta Mayor, the city is ready if all the sports contested in Jakarta. "We're ready if all sports to be contested in Jakarta or other areas. Because we have prepared several alternatives," he finished.
