The Jakarta Child Protection and Empowerment and Population Control Agency (PPAPP) says three type A terminals in Jakarta will have Sahabat Perempuan and Anak Post (SAPA Post) this year.

It aims to create a safe public space for women and children

Those terminals are Kampung Rambutan, Tanjung Priok, and Kalideres.

PPAPP Agency Head, Tuty Kusumawati expressed at the end of last December, her agency had inaugurated the SAPA Post at Pulogebang Terminal.

She assessed that SAPA Post could assist in the initial handling of cases of violence or sexual harassment against women and children in public places, especially public transportation modes.

"It aims to create a safe public space for women and children, especially in public transportation modes," she expressed, Wednesday (1/11).

She explained the SAPA Post is a forum for information and recipients of initial reports of cases of violence. Victims would later connect directly with the UPT Integrated Service Center for the Empowerment of Women and Children (P2TP2A) to get services according to the needs of victims.

"Hopefully, all Jakarta terminals will have SAPA post to provide access to complaints and create a safe public space for women and children," she expressed.

By doing so, passengers or service users could easily report acts of violence and sexual harassment against women and children, thus they could be dealt with quickly and appropriately.

It also raises public awareness to have the courage to report when experiencing and seeing incidents of violence and sexual harassment.

People can make a report through existing channels such as Jakarta Siaga 112, UPT P2TP2A Call Center 0813 1761 7622, SAPA 129 belonging to PPPA Ministry and others.

"To support it, we cooperate with the PAPP Agency to provide training or technical guidance to Transportation Agency (Dishub) officers, especially those on duty at the terminal," she closed.
