The Karet Kuningan Urban Village, Setiabudi Sub-district, South Jakarta is removing street vendors (PKL) operating on Jalan Denpasar Raya, RW 04, which aims to make the area clear and beautiful.
We're targeting to finish it by the end of this month
Karet Kuningan Urban Village Head, Istambul Afrikana said that besides vendors, the parking lot for motorcycles at the same location was also controlled to follow up on the Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono's direction.
"It has been ongoing since early January 2023. It is done because vendors and parking lots here were chaotic," he expressed, Monday (1/16).
KBT Area will Be Revitalized SoonBefore the pandemic, the vendor's location was a Coached Location (Lokbin) JS 12. During the pandemic, it was abandoned by the vendors, making the area look messy and dirty.
"Together with related regional apparatus organizations (OPDs), the urban village assisted by residents and vendors, who are generally residents of RW 04, are re-arranging selling locations," he explained.
It was carried out by rebuilding a 3x2.5 meter stall using mild steel material. His party also added stalls from previously 30 to 40 stalls to accommodate residents who want to sell and help economic growth.
"After it is done, we hope that it can make the location more tidy and orderly thus not disturbing the smooth flow of traffic. We're targeting to finish it by the end of this month," he added.
Suryani (55), a resident of RT 02/04, Karet Kuningan Urban Village who also sells at that location, appreciated the sub-district administration's efforts to arrange it.
“We also thank you for the arrangement. We can also resell in a cleaner and tidier location, thus it will make vendors safer and more comfortable," he stated.
