Imlek Treasures Found on Walk at Glodok Market

Ahead of Sunday's celebration of Chinese New Year which falls on January 22, 2023, Chinese Indonesians in West Jakarta have set up stalls to sell various trinkets along Jalan Pancoran Glodok, China Town Glodok, Taman Sari, West Jakarta.

The sales turnover obtained is around Rp 8 million every day

One of trinkets sellers, Soleh (40) who set up a stall in front of Glodok Market gate admitted that sales turnover continued to increase ahead of the 2023 Chinese New Year celebrations compared to the previous year.

"This year's sales of Chinese New Year trinkets have increased by around 50 percent compared to the previous year as restrictions on community activities were limited," he expressed, Monday (1/17).

He has been selling Chinese New Year trinkets on Jalan Pancoan since a week ago.

"The sales turnover obtained is around Rp 8 million every day, it is estimated that it will continue to increase until the third day before the Chinese New Year celebration," he explained.

While the Glodok Visitor, Weni Tjong (49) admitted that she routinely shopped for Chinese New Year trinkets in Pancoran, Glodok, Taman Sari, West Jakarta every year.

"I routinely shop for Chinese New Year trinkets in Pancoran, such as red packets, lanterns, and so on prior to Chinese New Year celebrations," expressed a resident of Jembatan Lima, Tambora, West Jakarta

He hopes that after Chinese New Year, 2023 will be more advanced, more successful, and healthy.

"Hopefully in the year of the rabbit, our fortune will get better and our country will also progress," he stated.
