One-Way Trial on Jalan Muhi Raya Implemented

The South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency has begun implementing a one-way trial run on Jalan H Muhi Raya to Jalan Ciputat Raya, Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, Monday (6/5). It aims to overcome the usual traffic jams in the area.

This is just a trial run, for two weeks

South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency's Traffic Division Head, Prisno Jogiara explained vehicles from Jalan Goden heading to Jalan Goden 1 - Jalan Muhi Raya - Jalan Ciputat Raya apply one way. As for vehicles coming from Jalan Ciputat Raya heading to Jalan Muhi must first go through Jalan Goden.

"This is just a trial run, for two weeks. It will be evaluated soon. It will be permanent if it runs smoothly," he expressed, Tuesday (6/6).

To smoothen traffic during this trial, his party deployed five personnel. They are placed at every intersection. Aside that, there are four banners and four traffic signs that have been installed at every crossroads, so motorists can be aware of them.

"So far, traffic on Jalan Muhi has been enforced in two directions and it has always been stagnant. Triggering the occurrence of traffic jams, the tail of the congestion reaches Jalan Ciputat Raya. So, the solution is a one-way system," he explained.

It only applies on weekdays, Monday - Friday. The time starts at 6 AM - 10 AM and 4 PM - 8 PM, except on Saturday, Sunday, and national holidays.

"The length of the one-way road is about 300 meters," he uttered.
