Fire in Kebon Melati Forced 2,122 People Evacuated

In aftermath of fire incident that hit citizen homes in Kebon Melati Urban Village, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, as many as 2,122 are evacuated in refugee camps, Thursday (3/5). These camps are a post, RW 12 and a field, RW 14.

In that incident, fire killed a resident named Agung (18). “We also found injured victims due to nail and shards of zinc,” said Central Jakarta Mayor, Mangara Pardede after he visited the scene on Friday (3/6).

The fire itself had destroyed 284 homes owned by 533 families from 9 RTs that spread in RW 12 (RT 16 & RT 19) and RW 14 (RT 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and RT 17)

RW 12 Chairman, Agus Suradika disclosed that food and blanket from Jakarta Social Department already distributed to victims. Besides that, public kitchen was also set up in the court of the Darul Aitam Orphanage.

At the scene, related unit also prepared an ambulance from Tanah Abang Community Health Center (Puskesmas). In addition, there are also clean-water truck and portable toilet provided.
