14-Year-Old Boy Drowns in Mampang River

After being searched for seven hours, the Search and Rescue (SAR) team finally succeeded to find a dead body of Rian Komarudin (14), who has been floating in Mampang River, Bangka Urban Village, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, Saturday (3/21).
We found the body around 1.30 PM, and then brought to the victim’s house
The boy is identified as a citizen of Jalan Bangka 9, RT 09/10 Bangka Urban Village. He drowned at around 6.20 AM when he was swimming in Mampang River. His body was found about 1.5 kilometers from the scene.
A Boy Drowns in Sunter River“We found the body around 1.30 PM, and then brought to the victim’s house,” said Head of South Jakarta Water Management Sub-Department, Deddy B, who participated in searching process.
Using styrofoams, Deddy described, the victim and his friends swam in the river, Pondok Jaya 10. "They then challenge each other to swim in the heavy water flow. Unluckily, the victim hit a bridge and drowned," he told.
The searching process was involved two rubber boats with 10 personnel of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Handling Sub-Department.
