East Jakarta SDA Prepares Six Fast Response Units

The East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) prepares six fast response units which are completed by floating pump by 50 liter per second.

Sub-agency's Head Section of Development and Drainage Enhancement, Tengku Saugi Zikri, said the response units are used to empower flood handling. It is hoped the units are also able to access flood in residential and on the road.

"Of those six units, five are placed in sub-district offices which are prone to flood. And one remaining unit is placed in sub-agency office," he said, Tuesday (1/9).

According to him, those kind of units are vary, from double to single cabin. The single cabin is prepared at Cipayung and Ciracas Sub-district. The double cabin is for Jatinegara, Kramat Jati and Cakung Sub-district. The other double cabin is prepared for East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency office.

"The first two units have been distributed to Ciracas and Jatinegara Sub-districts. The remaining units are still waiting for the vehicle document," he added.

He continued that the double cabin unit is equipped with two floating pumps, while the single cabin is equipped with four floating pumps by 50 liter per second.

Meanwhile, Ciracas SDA's Implementer Head, Yulia Indah, admitted one unit has been received and operated during inundation handling on Jalan Raya Bogor. It precisely in front of Kramat Jati Induk Market exit gate. The unit was deployed to handle 30 cm-inundation.

"The unit is effective to handle the inundation in residential areas since the pump is easy to carry," she admitted.
