Untung Jawa Urban Village's Water Resource Coordinator, Mahiar, said the channel is built to anticipate inundation during rainy season.
"There is no water channel around the location thus it is prone to inundation," he said, Thursday (1/11).

"The construction has been started since Monday ago and is targeted to complete by the end of this month," he added.
Meanwhile, Untung Jawa Island Urban Village Head, Sidartawan, admitted the channel construction is based on resident's request.
"It is hoped the construction to be completed quickly to prevent inundation," he stated.
Zuharmansyah (35), one of local residents, explained that the area was frequently inundated during rain.
"Thanks to the construction of water channel. We hope it will eliminate inundation in the area," he stated.
