BI Representative Predicts Jakarta's Economy to Grow Strongly

Jakarta Branch Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative predicts that the economy in Jakarta will still grow strongly and inflation rates will be maintained.

Jakarta's inflation rate in January 2024 is still maintained

Jakarta Branch BI Representative Head, Arlyana Abubakar said Jakarta's economy was still growing strongly and inflation would remain under control throughout 2024. It was confirmed by the results of consumer surveys that the consumer Expectation Index increased at an optimistic level until January 2024.

"While, Jakarta's inflation rate in January 2024 is still maintained at around 1.83 and lower than the national level of 2.57," he expressed, Monday (2/19).

He explained the projected Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in Jakarta in 2024 would increase by around 4.8 to 5.6 percent. As for the inflation target in Jakarta in 2024 was lower, namely 2.5 + -1 and credit around 10 - 12 percent.

"Several factors in Jakarta's GRDP projection for 2024 include strong consumer optimism and the rise of events and MICE; continuation of strategic projects; holding elections; and so on," he explained.

He added three policy directions to strengthen Jakarta's role as a competitive global city accompanied by synergy controlling inflation, and strengthening the digital ecosystem, namely first, strengthening Jakarta as a competitive global city that contributes highly to the national economy through optimizing main Business Fields (LU), exploring potential LU; and Jakarta Special Region Law.

"Second, strengthening inflation control synergies through the TPID Jakarta program, especially GNPIP and synergies with TPID Bodetabek and third, strengthening the digital ecosystem through TP2DD synergies for the government and private sectors," he stated.
