Pulogadung Sub-district's Water Resource Implementer Unit Head, Didi Rusdiana, said the dredging is requested by terminal management. The water channel is full of debris left over from controlling illegal buildings in the terminal. The length of the water channel being cleaned is around 100 meters with a width of 1.1 meters and a depth of 1.6 meters.

"One heavy equipment is deployed to speed up the cleaning," he said.

He added that the dredging has been running from Monday (4/22) and is targeted to complete in the next three weeks.

"The debris will be disposed to Rawa Bebek, Ujung Menteng," he added.

Meanwhile, Pulogadung Bus Terminal Head, Suratman, stated the blockage of debris in this channel causes puddles as high as 10 centimeters on the terminal exit access road during heavy rain.

"That is why we request East Jakarta Water Resource Sub-agency to assist the cleaning," he stated.

According to him, the channel is connected with channel on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan and ended at Sunter River.

"It is hoped the cleaning will give safety and comfort for residents and passerby," he said.
