FPPJ: As PSN, Jakarta LRT Phase 1B Construction must Be Supported

The development of mass transportation modes in Jakarta continues to be accelerated. That is the Jakarta Phase 1B Integrated Highway (LRT) on the Velodrome-Manggarai route, a National Strategic Project (PSN).

The Jakarta Concerned Youth Forum (FPPJ) encourages the public to support and appreciate this development program as a public transportation facility to overcome traffic jams in Jakarta.

FPPJ's Deputy Secretary General, Andri Rukmana expressed the Jakarta Phase 1B LRT development could be a long-term solution, as it could facilitate the mobility of residents without using private vehicles.

"This project is very important," he expressed, Tuesday (5/21).

He explained it would also be a barometer of Jakarta as a global city after not having its status as the nation's capital.

"Good transportation is a reflection of a city that is advanced and globally competitive," he explained.

According to him, FPPJ appreciated the performance of PT LRT Jakarta under the leadership of Hendri Saputra as the Main Director.

"It's still on track. In the 31st week, there was a positive deviation. In fact, on April 20, the first grider beam was lifted," he furthered.

Even, PT LRT Jakarta was committed to providing the best service in its operations

"We've observed that the Jakarta Phase 1A LRT Jakarta service on the Kelapa Gading-Velodrome route is good. Hopefully, the Jakarta Phase 1A and 1B LRT connectivity will be the people's choice," he added.

As for the information, the groundbreaking for the Jakarta Phase 1B LRT, which costs around Rp 5.5 trillion, was carried out by the Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono together with the Indonesian Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi on October 30, 2023.

It is targeted to be finished in three years and is targeted to be able to enter a limited trial run in the upcoming September.
