South Jakarta Health Sub-agency targets 238,516 children aged 0-7 year to get polio vaccine this week.
starting July 23, 2024
Sub-agency's Health Human Resource Section Head, Dina Nurdjannah, said this program is part of National Immunization Week (PIN) program to prevent polio to children.
"The number is based on data given by Posyandu and Puskesmas," she said, Monday (7/22).
Dina explained that the distribution of the Polio vaccine in South Jakarta is targeted to reach 100 percent. This target corresponds to the target number of PIN Polio with a vaccine IP of 40 or one vial of vaccine for 40 children.
She hopes that this activity will be able to protect children from diseases that attack the nervous system and can cause paralysis and even death.
"So far, no cases of Polio have been found, especially in South Jakarta," she explained.
The sub-agency, she added, guarantees the safe storage of vaccines for PIN Polio according to standards.
"Vaccine safety for PIN Polio is stored at a temperature of minus 25 to minus 15 degrees Celsius," she added.
Next, the vaccine is taken to the PIN immunization post in a vaccine storage container (vaccine carrier) filled with a cold pack in a frozen state according to standards.
"South Jakarta Health Sub-agency provides free polio drops at Posyandu, Puskesmas, schools and nearest immunization service posts starting July 23, 2024," she stated.
