Although they are often controlled, yet the existence of people with social welfare issues (PMKS) keeps rampant in West Jakarta. In fact, along January-April, joint personnel of Satpol PP and West Jakarta Social Sub-Department only secured 169 people in 8 sub-districts, West Jakarta.

Most of the netted PMKS are PMKS, such as sex workers, street kids, street vendors, and Pak Ogah

Those 169 netted PMKS are 67 homeless, 60 buskers and 42 beggars.

PMKS-Prone Areas Guarded Strictly

“Most of the netted PMKS are PMKS, such as sex workers, street kids, street vendors, and Pak Ogah which is the people who 'regulate' traffic in the hope of a small tip,” said Head of West Jakarta Social Sub-Department, Ika Yuli Rahayu, Tuesday (4/28).

Rahayu admitted, her sub-department still has difficulties to control the PMKS. "Nevertheless, she continues to hold raid routinely,” she uttered.
