Fire Burns 120 Tenement Houses and 35 Stalls on Jalan Moa

A fire broke out on Wednesday (8/14) at 120 tenement houses and 35 used stalls, Jalan Moa, RT 07/16, Pejagalan Urban Village, Penjaringam Sub-district, North Jakarta.

North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Fire and Rescue Sub-agency's Operation Section Head, Gatot Sulaeman said the fire report was received via call center 112 at 6.30 AM. After that, he deployed 18 fire engines and 95 firefighters to the scene.

"We have managed to control the situation at 6.44 AM," he expressed.

Health Posts Provided to Serve Fire Survivors in Manggarai

He explained it was triggered by an electrical short circuit from one of the houses and spread to other houses.

"It takes up to 8.28 AM," he explained.

He added there were around 200 people from 70 households.

"The total area of ​​the burned area is around 15,000 square meters. The extinguishing process is hampered by narrow road access and water sources," he added.

One of the residents from Pejagalan, Wisnu (38) admitted that not long after he reported it, firefighters immediately arrived at the location.

"The fire quickly grew because there were many flammable items. We appreciate them who quickly arrived at the location," he stated.
