Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, officially opened the Badminton Championship between regional apparatus organizations (OPD) and Jakarta BUMDs to compete for Jakarta Governor's Cup at the East Jakarta Sports Arena, Jalan Otista Raya, East Jakarta, Monday (8/19).

"With close ties of relationship, It is hoped that it will further increase synergy and cooperation between OPD and BUMD in jointly building Jakarta into a global city," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta Provincial Government's press release, Monday (8/19).

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) Head, Andri Yansyah said the badminton championship was attended by 400 participants from 52 OPDs and BUMDs. There were three categories, namely team category (men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles), women's doubles individual category, and men's doubles individual category.
"The enthusiasm is very high considering the high number of participants. For the team category, we limit participants to only 40 years and above. As for the individual men's doubles and women's doubles, we are open. The championship will be held from August 19 to 22, 2024 at the East Jakarta Sports Center," he explained.
As for the information, the Acting Governor, Heru played a men's doubles exhibition match paired with Athens Olympic gold medalist Taufik Hidayat, against City Secretary, Joko Agus Setyono paired with North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim. The match was won by Acting Governor Heru and Taufik Hidayat.
