Satpol PP Controls Illegal Cigarette Dealer

Jakarta Customs Office in synergy with Jakarta Satpol PP conducted a monitoring operation on Excisable Goods of Tobacco Products or illegal cigarettes sold without excise in South Jakarta area.

We seized 1,000,000 illegal cigarettes

Jakarta Satpol PP's Civil Servant Enforcement Head, Tamo Sijabat, said the operation was held based on residents' report regarding the circulation of illegal cigarettes.

"We seized 1,000,000 illegal cigarettes found in two different locations," he said, Thursday (10/10).

He explained that 200,000 illegal cigarettes were found in a shop and 800,000 in a rented house.

"The estimated value is Rp 1.3 billion with an estimated state loss Rp 746,000,000," he added.

Therefore, the perpetrators of illegal cigarette dealers and receivers will be subject to Criminal Law No 39/2007 about Customs and Excise. Meanwhile, owners of rented houses and business premises will be subject to Jakarta Regional Regulation No 8/2007 about Public Order. The shop and rent house will be sealed for sure.

"Since it causes losses to the state, we hope that the public and traders do not buy or sell illegal cigarettes," he stated.
