The Jakarta Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (PMPTSP), initiated the Green Investment Assessment Indicator Guide (PIN Greenvest), an innovative program designed to support sustainable investment and strengthen the city's climate resilience.
This is a systematic guide for business actors to assess green projects
Jakarta PMPTSP Agency Vice Head, Denny Wahyu Haryanto stated that as one of Indonesia's economic centers, Jakarta keeps transforming to become a highly competitive and sustainable global city.
According to him, PIN Greenvest is part of Jakarta's commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and environmentally friendly economy. He said, Greenvest's PIN program is the answer to the need for major world cities to encourage responsible investment.
PMPTSP Service Innovations Socialized to Pondok Kelapa Residents"This is a systematic guide for business actors to assess green projects. This innovation provides specific, detailed, and systematic green investment assessment indicators, as an operational guide to assessing green investments from economic, environmental, social, and business governance aspects," he explained, Thursday (11/21).
He explained green investment in Jakarta had only reached 3.18 percent of the total investment realization from 2020 to 2023. Thereby, PIN Greenvest aims to increase entrepreneurs' awareness of the importance of sustainability, as well as support Jakarta's target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2050 as mandated by Gubernatorial Regulation Number 90/2021 on the Climate-Resilient Regional Low Carbon Development Plan.
"It reflects the less than optimal understanding of the importance of investments oriented towards environmental sustainability, as well as the limited real actions taken to integrate sustainability aspects into every investment decision and business activity," he explained.
With PIN Greenvest, his party would provide clear and transparent guidelines for assessing green projects which are expected to increase awareness among business actors/investors and encourage more sustainable investment in Jakarta.
"Entrepreneurs can easily assess whether a business activity is following the principles of sustainability and whether its impact is in line with Jakarta's long-term goals as a greener and more sustainable city," he added.
As for the information, the Greenvest PIN will later be implemented via a web-based and integrated platform and can be accessed via invest.jakarta.go.id/jakgreenvest.
This system allows entrepreneurs to conduct self-assessments of their business activities using various indicators that refer to sustainability principles.
After entrepreneurs complete the assessment, the results will be verified and validated by the Jakarta Government's PIN Greenvest team to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable green investment standards.
