Ahok: National Awakening Day a Moment to Reflect and Maintain Unity

Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama asserted that the commemoration of National Awakening Day (Harkitnas) is a moment when the nation awakes and unites with nationalism spirit, unity and awareness for the sake of better Indonesia that was never appeared during colonialism era.

“Never stop to struggle, this is the moment for advance, dignified and justice Indonesia. We’ve been through for 100 years to transform into sovereignty and struggling with the changes,” he said as ceremony inspector of awakening day celebration during read the Minister of Communication and Technology Rudiantara's speech at IRTI Monas field, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (5/20).

Ahok acknowledged, the aimed of the commemoration is to increase nationalism spirit in development and tighten the brotherhood to accelerate the realization of vision and mission for the sake of better Indonesia.

Ahok instructed to the local residents to remember the heroes struggle and keep spirit to maintain unity.

“Let us remember the founding fathers spirit as a whole.  The long way process had born the great nation,” he uttered.

Especially for young generations, Ahok gave a mentally revolution message in accordance with Nawa Cita of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

Today, nation mentally character building had become major priority of government. The development which called mental revolution is expected could create the creative yet national spirited citizen.

“In accordance with such spirit, demand to advance is important to generate spirit. Let us work harder and harder,” he told.

Furthermore, the commemoration was also attended Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat, Mrs. Veronica Tan (Ahok’s wife) along with Mrs. Happy Farida and hundred civil servants who served in Jakarta City Administration.
