Fire Strikes Two-story House in Palmeriam

A fire struck a two-story house located on Jalan Salemba Utan Barat, RT 05/07, Palmeriam, Matraman, East Jakarta, Monday (12/9), at around 3 PM. The fire was allegedly caused by an electrical short-circuit, an official said.

We managed to handle it around 40 minutes. No casualties here

East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency (Gulkarmat) Heae, Muchtar Zakaria said the fire broke out while the homeowner was eating on the ground floor. He was then surprised by thick smoke coming from the second floor and the flames were already blazing.

"The fire had burned the mattress in the front room of the house," he expressed.

He explained he and locals were trying to put out the flames but they failed. At that time, they immediately reported the incident to the Matraman Sub-district Fire Sector.

Afterward, the sub-agency sent six fire engines and 24 firefighters to the scene.

"We managed to handle it around 40 minutes. No casualties here," he uttered.
