Traffic Diversion and Parking Lot Prepared for New Year's Eve

Jakarta Transportation Agency is about to run traffic diversion at Sudirman-Thamrin in order to smooth the new year's eve celebration. As many as 31 roads to be closed from 6 PM to 2 AM.

The celebration events will be held at several locations namely Lapangan Banteng, Kuda Statue, in front of Sari Pasific, in front of Japan Ambassador, in front of UOB Plaza, Dukuh Atas-JXB River, in front of Wisma Nugra Santana, in front of WTV Building, in front of Orient Hotel, SCBD, Fx Gate 1, and in front of Panin Bank.

"The 31 roads will be closed from 6 PM to 2 AM. Alternative roads are also prepared for road diversion," said Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Syafrin Liputo, Sunday (12/29).

Syafrin detailed the 31 roads to be closed are Jalan Jenderal Sudirman (start from Senayan Roundabout up to HI Roundabout), Jalan MH Thamrin (from HI Roundabout up to Kuda Statue Roundabout), and Jalan Pintu Senayan 1.

Then Slow lane of Semanggi Earing (Gatot Subroto) west side, Jalan Bendungan Hilir, Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Jalan Karet Pasar Baru Timur 5, Jalan Kupingan BNI 46, Jalan Kota Bumi and Jalan Baturaja, and Jalan Teluk Betung.

Next, Jalan Kebon Kacang, Jalan Sunda, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jalan Sumenep Tosari, Landmark (Indocement), Jalan Setiabudi, Jalan Prof Dr Satrio, Jalan Masjid (Sampoerna), Jalan Garnisun Semanggi Underpass, and slow lane of Semanggi (Gatot Subroto) Earing East side.

Road closure is also applied at SCBD, Jalan Tulodong Atas 2/beside CIMB, Jalan Budi Kemuliaan Intersection and Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jalan Kebon Sirih from west side/east side is closed at Agus Salim Intersection, and Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim.

Next are on Jalan Majapahit, Jalan Veteran III, Jalan Veteran II, Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur Intersection-Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan Intersection-Jalan M Ridwan Rais, and Jalan Perwira Intersection-Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat.

Alternative roads that have been prepared are;

1. Traffic from South to North is diverted to Jalan Hang Lekir I-Jalan Hang Tuah-Jalan Hang Lekir IV-Jalan Hang Lekir II-Jalan Hang Lekir I-Jalan Asia Afrika-Jalan Gerbang Pemuda-Jalan Gatot Subroto-Jalan KS Tubun-Jalan KH Mas Mansyur-Jalan Cideng-etc. Or can use Jalan HR Rasuna Said-Jalan Prof Dr Satrio-Jalan KH Mas Mansyur-etc. While North to South direction may use the same roads.

2. Traffic from North to South is diverted to Jalan Ir H Juanda-Jalan Pos-Jalan Gedung Kesenian-Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara-Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat-Jalan Pejambon-Jalan MI Ridwan Rais heading to Rasuna Said-etc. Or can use Jalan Gunung Sahari-Jalan Kramat Raya-Jalan Salemba-Jalan Proklamasi-Jalan Tambak-Jalan Prof Dr Sahardjo, and so on.

3. Traffic from East (Jalan Batu) to West (Tanah Abang) can use Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur-Jalan MI Ridwan Rais-turn at Tugu Tani-Jalan MI Ridwan Rais-Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur-Jalan Perwira-Jalan Veteran-Jalan Suryapranoto-Jalan Balikpapan-Jalan Cideng Timur-Jalan Fachrudin-and so on.

4. Traffic from West (RSPAD) to West (Tomang Raya) can use Jalan Kramat Kwitang-take turn at west-west Jalan Kramat Kwitang-Tugu Tani-Jalan MI Ridwan Rais-Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur-Jalan Perwira-Jalan Katedral-Jalan Veteran-Jalan Suryapranoto-Jalan Balikpapan-Jalan Kyai Caringin-Jalan Tomang Raya-and so on.

Syafrin added that the agency also has prepared 33 parking areas at strategic locations.

"There are 33 parking areas prepared around the event locations with total 19,582 parking units for motorcycle, 21,503 parking units for car, and 182 parking units for bus," he added.

Those 33 parking areas are;

1. IRTI Monas with 350 parking units for car and 600 parking units for motorcycle

2. Gambir Station with  315 parking units for car and 630 parking units for motorcycle

3. National Resilience Institute area by 250 parking units for car and 300 parking units for motorcycle

4. National Library by 250 parking units for car and 300 parking units for motorcycle

5. Telkom STO Gambir Building by 25 parking units for car dan 50 parking units for motorcycle

6. BUMN Ministry area by 90 parking units for car and 900 parking units for motorcycle

7. Dana Reksa Tower area by 500 parking units for car and 200 parking units for motorcycle

8. Indosat Building by 60 parking units for car and 200 parking units for motorycle

9. Tourism Ministry

10. Borobudur Hotel

11. South Side of Lapangan Banteng

12. East Side of Lapangan Banteng

13. Pos Office

14. Cathedral Church

15. Jalan Veteran 1

16. Wisma Mandiri

17. TPE Sabang

Syafrin appealed the residents, who want to attend the new year's eve celebration evenets on Jalan MH-Thamrin-Jalan Jenderal Sudirman-Lapangan Banteng, to use public transportations such as Transjakarta, MRT, LRT, and commuter line.

Syafrin also appealed the passengers of train at Gambir Station to adjust their travel time.

"Road users may use the alternative roads, obey the traffic signs and personnel advise, and prioritize road safety," he stated.
